A popular seaside getaway, Sooke is an hour’s drive from Victoria, at the bottom tip of Vancouver Island. With lots of nature walks and ocean views (and October having beautiful weather this year), I got to enjoy the beautiful outdoor atmosphere. If you’re planning a quiet getaway, I recommend any of these spots.
Whiffin Spit
A beautiful walk out on the spit, you can see wildlife and boats going in and out of the inlet.

Sheringham Lighthouse
The 110th birthday of the lighthouse was on September 30th! A short, but a little steep, walk down to the lighthouse, you will get an amazing view. This is a popular spot for whale sighting and other sea mammals too. They have a sound system for visitors to listen to any under water activity taking place.

Shirley Delicious
A little shack in the woods, it’s a very popular eating spot! They make great sandwiches to share, sell paintings and other great gift ideas. With indoor and outdoor seating, it’s very cozy.

Sooke Pothole Provincial Park
Stunning walks and hikes through the forest, and a road specifically for bicyclists. The river running through the park and natural rock formations, it has amazing swimming spots! A place right out of a fairy tale!

Sooke Marine Boardwalk
Great short walk and hangout spot. Has wheelchair access from the park. Here, you’ll see lot’s of wildlife and another spectacular view of Sooke’s inlet. You might also see people recreational fishing for crabs.
